Seismic Analysis using Response Spectrum Method
Typical Seismic Analysis using response spectrum Method involves several steps. The process begins with extraction of Eigen Values or modes of Vibration. These Eigen Values are then Graded for their contribution according to the participation factors.
Then the participation factor is used along with the seismic acceleration to determine the mode coefficient. This mode coefficient is obtained for several modes, and then a suitable combination method is used to combine these modes to give the seismic response of the structure.
The Objective of the FEA was to perform response spectra analysis on an absorber tank as per IS 1893
Now we have consider that this seismic response is primarily a response to multiple vibration inputs occurring at the same time.
